I found this frog by the laser printer on my desk while I was writing my reflective journal for my Philosophical Anthropology class.

It gave me more things to write on my journal.

    Trash Can

I've been reading St. Josemaria Escriva de Balaguer's book entitled "The Way", which was recommended to me by my spiritual director. I've been reading through the passages in the book and this particular passage called my attention:

    The Way 592

Don't forget that you are just a trash can. So if by any chance the divine gardener should lay his hands on you and scrub and clean you, and fill you with magnificent flowers, neither the scent nor the colors that beautify your ugliness should make you proud.

Humble yourself: don't you know that you are a trash can?

I believe that sometimes we forget that all that we are and all that we have are graces given by God and not just mere products of our "self". The worst thing is that we place ourselves on the pedestal for every good or achievement that we have done. We forget that we are just a trash can, dumped with every piece of garbage imaginable such as sin.

Cum enim infirmor, tunc potens sum - "for when I am weak, then I am strong"

WYD SYD 2008 Song : Receive the Power

I heard this from my classmate's notebook computer. This song is quite simple but it's really nice, but I still miss the WYD 1995 Song: Tell the World of His Love. You can download this song from the WYD 2008 website at http://www.wyd2008.org/index.php/en/about_wyd08/wyd08_song

    Verse 1
    Every nation, every tribe,
    come together to worship You.
    In Your presence we delight,
we will follow to the ends of the earth.

    Chorus
    Alleluia! Alleluia!
Receive the Power, from the Holy Spirit!
    Alleluia! Alleluia!
Receive the Power to be a light unto the world!

    Verse 2
As Your Spirit calls to rise
we will answer and do Your Will.
    We’ll forever testify
of Your mercy and unfailing love.

    Chorus
    Alleluia! Alleluia!
Receive the Power, from the Holy Spirit!
    Alleluia! Alleluia!
Receive the Power to be a light unto the world!

    Bridge
Lamb of God, we worship You,
    Holy One, we worship You,
Bread of Life, we worship You,
    Emmanuel, we worship You.
Lamb of God, we worship You,
    Holy One, we worship You,
Bread of Life, we worship You,
    Emmanuel, we will sing forever.

    Chorus
    Alleluia! Alleluia!
Receive the Power, from the Holy Spirit!
    Alleluia! Alleluia!

Learning to fly that virtual plane: Another Missed Approach

MissedApproach-CRK-MNLSince I have no classes tomorrow, I decided to play Flight Simulator X for one hour.

    Flight Details:

    • Origin: Clark International Airport (CRK/RPLC)
    • Destination: Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL/RPLL)
    • ETE: 00:08 HRS
    • Aircraft: Airbus A320

Finally I learned the art of descending the plane, during my first trials with CRK-MNL what I always notice that when I attempt to land the plane, it is too late, the runway is actually beneath me. Now, I learned (somehow) to align my plane with the runway.

But still I failed, I still have to learn how to slow my plane down. I think I have to extend my flaps and lower the throttle when approaching the runway.

I have a powerful choleric personality.

I'm right here at ACB 403 where I usually hang out after my Philosophical Anthropology class. Earlier, we had an activity that determines more or less or personality. We were asked by our teacher to fill up a survey and apparently I have a Powerful Choleric Personality.

Lesson of the Day: Go through game tutorials before even flying a B747-400

I just got my copy of this very cool game called Microsoft Flight Simulator. I was very excited since being a pilot is one of my childhood aspirations.

In this game, I just realized that they actually use ICAO codes instead of IATA codes (Ninoy Aquino International Airport is MNL in IATA and RPLL in ICAO). I tried flying to Cebu and Tagbilaran with a Boeing 747-400 without even going through the tutorials, but to no avail my plane "lands" somewhere and I have no idea on where I am going.

I guess, I have to go through game tutorials first before even flying. I have to rest now, I'm kinda dizzy. Once I get home tomorrow, I will play flight simulator.

    Good Night.

    Peanut Brittle

The class adviser entered the classroom of her grade three students on a warm Monday afternoon, with her a peanut brittle which she bought on her way back to Manila from her weekend on her hometown. It was the homeroom period, she told her students about her wonderful weekend and after that she split the peanut brittle into pieces for everyone to share.

Everyone was so happy to have their share of the peanut brittle. The class adviser was so happy to see her students smiling. After that, she dismissed the class however, no one ever thanked her for the peanut brittle.

    Happy Days: Over

Yes, my happy days are finally over. Goodbye Second Semester.

The second semester of this school year was one of my happiest semester in my entire academic life. I got good subjects and really good teachers, hopefully I will get really good grades (one grade is out now from my theo class it's 1.75).

Another stressful semester is ahead of me, waiting for me next school year. I'm scheduled to have 3 Major subjects such as Systems Analysis and Design (which we took as an "elective" in Don Bosco when I was still in high school), Statistics and Probability and one IT elective (probably I will be taking ABAP) in addition to these I will have to take my "Liberal Arts" subjects such as Philippine History and etc.

Hmm.. what to do during summer?

Blogger's Code: Should unauthorized copying of software and files be stopped?

I have discovered Blogger's Code because of a "marketing hype" in UA&P wherein you'll see postings related to this blog. This is also the default website when you surf the internet in the DEEL Library.

The topic of the week is: Should unauthorized copying of software and files be stopped?

Context: The development of the internet is accelerating at a very fast pace, and the medium is becoming more and more accessible to everyone. Today, everything a person needs is at his fingertips. Consumers can watch episodes of their favorite TV series by downloading them from the internet. Consumers are also just a click away from the world's largest music library.

This availability of information, however, has proven itself to be both a boon and a bane to the world of business. Through unauthorized copying of softwares and files, artists are finding it harder and harder to survive in the ultra-competitive industry. Record companies now see no reason to support these gifted artists, since file-sharing softwares ensure a dramatic drop in record sales anyway.

So, what action should be taken: to stop or not to stop the unauthorized copying of software and files? Look through the pros and cons provided. Think about the consequences. Take a stand.

My Stand: Yes, unauthorized copying of software, files and other forms intellectual property by all means and by all mediums should be stopped.

But I can't really understand where is this going! Your topic is about software and files but your context focuses on creative work such as music. Maybe you could change the topic:

Should file-sharing activities that involve copyrighted materials be stopped?

and you should rephrase the context:

The development of the internet is accelerating at a very fast pace, and the medium is becoming more and more accessible to everyone. Through file sharing networks, internet users are just a click away from downloading what they want regardless if the material being downloaded is copyrighted or not.

File-sharing networks has proven itself to be both a boon and a bane to the world of business. For example, through the download of music from file sharing networks, artists are finding it harder and harder to survive in the ultra-competitive industry. Record companies now see no reason to support these gifted artists, since file-sharing software ensure a dramatic drop in record sales anyway.

So, what action should be taken? Should file-sharing activities that involve copyrighted material be stopped? or should every file-sharing network follow the example of Napster?

In this way, the topic and context is easier to understand.
